In developing my own consulting company I have
been able to leverage my extensive, broad, market knowledge
and proven success in launching new technology platforms
in highly competitive markets to enable client companies to achieve
high value customer relationships, win-win partnerships and aggressive
growth goals.
I have previous experience as a Business
Area Manager at Invitrogen Drug Discovery Solutions,
where I was a member of the Senior Leadership Management
team and was responsible for the development and execution of
strategies for the DDS Business Segment in Madison WI - with
a focus on the Cell-Based Assays and Lead Discovery technology
portfolios and market segments. In this role I focused on: developing
partnering & acquisition
strategies, identifying technologies of interest
and assessing their relative value, establishing and managing
collaborations, licenses, and investments for technology development
and the commercialization of select technologies as products
and services.
My career also includes a role as Director of Business
Development at Orion Genomics, an Agricultural Genomics startup
company, where I provided executive-level management for a broad
range of responsibilities in business development, licensing,
and corporate development.
Previous to this, as Director of Business
Development at Packard BioSciences Inc., I was
responsible for analyzing the strategic fit of
potential new business opportunities within the genomics market
for the executive management team. Additionally while at Packard,
I was responsible for identifying, developing, and negotiating
scientific and commercial partnerships for a new screening technology
platform designed for the high-throughput drug discovery market.
Prior to joining Packard, I was the Scientific
Coordinator at the Whitehead Institute Center
for Genome Research at MIT, where my responsibilities
included developing, directing, and implementing
new strategic, operational, and financial activities
designed to increase throughput, decrease cost, and
maximize the Genome Center's ability to meet and exceed
its goals.
Earlier in my career, I was Business Development
Manager and Marketing Product Manager for many
different Amersham Life Science Inc. product lines,
including leading the company's worldwide genomics
initiatives, which focused on the DNA sequencing
and PCR product portfolios.
My experience also includes a position as Research
Scientist at Roche Molecular Systems, where I
was one of the first employees of the newly-acquired
PCR business and was responsible for many roles in
the startup organization of manufacturing and operations,
including technology transfer, manufacturing, and quality control.
I began my scientific career as a Researcher at the University
of Iowa in the Department of Microbiology researching Pseudomonas aeruginosa and
its role in pathogenic diseases.
I received a B.S. degree in Microbiology from Iowa State
University in 1987 and an M.B.A.
in Marketing & Strategic Planning from the
